Rosina Plane Adventures in Overlay Mosaic MAL Modern Yarn Pack

Welcome to the new MAL from Rosina Plane, in two gorgeous colourways – “Traditional” and “Modern”!

Rosina says:  “I had planned to take a short break from designing in the Autumn of 2024, and thought I would spend the time making some lap blankets to donate to a local charity.  As part of this, I whipped up a few simple geometric designs which I could repeat, and hook up without needing to keep referring to the chart.

But, me being me, I couldn’t resist putting them all together (with a few extra) into a single design!  Adventures in Overlay Mosaic is worked in single-colour rows using the overlay mosaic crochet technique, and is finished off with a simple envelope border to hide the loose ends.  Full written instructions are included in the pattern (purchase it here from Rosina’s Ravelry store, alongside clear, marked charts and photos of each completed design.

The pattern is written for a single size (approximately 88cm x 120cm), and also includes additional information to enable you to easily make a different size.  There are no special stitches, and no mid-row colour changes, making the pattern perfect for newbies to the technique, and also for anyone wanting something easy to do without needing to constantly refer to the pattern.

Each of the 23 simple designs included in this pattern can also be repeated as many times as you wish to make a longer project, or indeed to make 23 different projects using a single repeated design…and anything in between!”

This yarn pack for the Modern colourway contains 11 balls of Stylecraft Special DK in the following shades and quantities:

• 3 x Stylecraft Special DK – Hint of Lilac (2174) – 100g
• 2 x Stylecraft Special DK – Purple Smoke (2181) – 100g
• 1 x Stylecraft Special DK – Periwinkle (2183) – 100g
• 1 x Stylecraft Special DK – Mallard Blue (2185) – 100g
• 1 x Stylecraft Special DK – Mistletoe (2180) – 100g
• 1 x Stylecraft Special DK – Leaf (2176) – 100g
• 1 x Stylecraft Special DK – Pink Rhubarb (2175) – 100g
• 1 x Stylecraft Special DK – Cinder Rose (2171) – 100g

You will also need sizes 4mm (USG/6) and 3.5mm (US E/4) crochet hooks.  The pattern is written for a blanket sized approximately 88cm x 120cm, and the yarn pack quantities given are for this size.
